PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has demanded recounting in the recently held by-election on NA-45, Kurram tribal district.
The National Assembly seat was won by the JUI-F’s Munir Khan Orakzai in the July 2018 general elections.
It had fallen vacant after his death due to Covid-19. The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Malik Fakharuzaman was declared a winner in the recent by-poll on the seat.
Speaking at a news conference in the Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, the JUI-F Secretary Information, Abdul Jalil Jan, alleged that the PTI government had rigged the by-poll and changed the results.
Flanked by the party deputy general secretary, erstwhile Fata, Ahmad Saeed and information secretary, Qari Jehad Shah Afridi, he rejected NA-45 Kurram by-poll result, alleging record rigging.
Despite having been over for nearly a year, the Republican race for the U.S. Senate in New Jersey in 2020 is officially done, thanks to the U.S. Supreme Court Feb. 22 rejecting the efforts of Hirsh Singh for a recount.
Thus, Democrat Cory Booker is officially the stateâs U.S. Senate winner â though Booker did defeat the man who topped Singh in the Republican primary, Rik Mehta.
Singh filed a lawsuit three days after the general election alleging that Gov. Phil Murphyâs executive order mandating a mostly-mail primary was unconstitutional.
The New Jersey Supreme Court threw out his suit in October. Â Singh represented himself, according to a New Jersey Globe report.

A five-part video series exploring the inner workings of the organ at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Southern Pines, North Carolina, was the inspiration for Illinois College graduate Homer Ferguson’s virtual performance Friday as part of the Illinois College Fine Arts Series.
“When I was invited last spring to come be part of the series, part of it was just a return to campus,” Ferguson said. “Part of it was to be with my mentors, (Rudolph) Zuiderveld and Garrett Allman.”

A machine recount took place on Tuesday, and on Thursday, poll workers worked to review the ballots that the machines rejected.
